Nirmal Gelal
PhD Student
Nirmal is a PhD student and Graduate Research Assistant at Kansas State University’s Koncordant Lab, working under the supervision of Dr. Hande Küçük McGinty. Since joining the lab in early 2024, he has focused on building knowledge graphs for the GRIP project. Originally from Lalitpur, Nepal, where he attended Patan Multiple Campus (Tribhuvan University), Nirmal recently reached a significant milestone by completing his Master’s degree at K-State.
His academic expertise includes graph representation learning and ontology development. Currently, his research interests are centered at the cutting edge of data science, specifically exploring the synergy between Large Language Models (LLMs) and Graph Learning to solve complex data challenges.
Outside of his research, Nirmal stays active within his community and enjoys a well-rounded lifestyle. He is a music enthusiast who finds balance by exploring new destinations and spending quality time with his friends.
